Zinc Electroplating

Zinc plating is one of the most versatile surface-finishing processes available. Zinc plating is used for a variety of engineering and functional applications. One of the main uses of zinc plating is to improve the corrosion resistance of steel parts. When applied, zinc works to prolong the life of the base metal. The corrosion protection of zinc plating can also be enhanced through a variety of chromate/passivate and seal dip applications. This results in excellent corrosion resistance. Whether you are walking through a hardware store, looking under the hood of your car, or mowing the grass, you will find zinc plating at work protecting steel from corrosion in the products we use every day.

Dickey Metal Finishing offers clear and yellow trivalent chromate zinc coatings. Our two barrel lines and one rack line are capable of processing thousands of pounds of work per day.

Tin Electroplating

Tin may be electroplated directly on copper, nickel, and brass or on an undercoat of copper or nickel on steel, and zinc die castings. It is a popular coating used in the electrical, automotive and industrial sectors. It can be used to prevent tarnish and maintain electrical conductivity and prevent oxidation on busbars and etc.

Our Offerings

Dickey Metal Finishing offers barrel and rack tin electroplating. We are able to process multiple sizes from large bus bars to small handheld parts. We offer Tin plating on brass, copper and aluminum.

Phosphate Coatings

Phosphate coatings are a crystalline conversion coating for steel and other ferrous metals. Phosphate coatings are used for increased corrosion protection, pretreatment for painting or coating and to improve friction properties of sliding components. Phosphate coatings are also used on threaded parts for anti-galling and rust protection.

Our Offerings

Manganese Phosphate- Dickey Metal Finishing offers black and dark grey manganese phosphate. This is commonly used for anti-galling and lubricity. Manganese phosphate coatings provide unbeatable corrosion and abrasion protection. It offers continued wear protection after the breaking in of components that are subject to wearing. This makes it a common choice for engine components, bearings and bushings.

Zinc Phosphate- Dickey Metal Finishing offers black and dark grey zinc phosphate coatings. Zinc phosphate is mainly used for rust protection on ferrous metals. It is a lighter alternative to manganese phosphate. This makes it a popular choice for hardware such as screws and bolts.

Zinc Phosphate and Lube- Using the same techniques to apply zinc phosphate we are able to apply a lube finish to help in the process of cold forging. Our lube can provide customers with reliable lubricity to help aid and protect against die destruction.

Our two phosphate lines are able to process thousands of pounds of parts per day allowing us to provide customers with quick turn around.

Black Oxide Coatings

The black oxide process is a chemical conversion coating. This means that the black oxide is not deposited on the surface of the substrate like nickel or zinc electroplating. Instead, the black oxide coating is produced by a chemical reaction between the iron on the surface of the ferrous metal and the oxidizing salts present in the black oxide solution. These oxidizing salts include penetrates, catalysts, activators and proprietary additives which all take part in the chemical reaction. The result of this chemical reaction is the formation of black iron oxide, magnetite (Fe3O4), on the surface of the metal being coated. This process is commonly used on tooling, bolts and gun applications etc.

Our Offerings

Dickey Metal Finishing is able to process small parts through our black oxide bath in multiple different barrel sizes. We also are able to black oxide larger parts and tooling in custom baskets, buckets and hanging techniques.

Powder Coating

Dickey Metal Finishing offers all types of custom powder coating used on common household items, automotive parts and custom metal fabrications. We proudly offer and use Prismatic Powders and use top of the line coating equipment that helps us constantly exceed customer expectations.

Industrial Burn-Off Removal

Dickey Metal Finishing uses batch oven burn-off techniques to quickly remove and dispose of hardened powder coat and paint finishes. Our large oven allows us to service multiple customers looking for daily burn-off cleaning of tooling and steel accessories that traditional cleaning will not perform.

Sand Blasting/ Industrial Cleaning

Dickey Metal Finishing offers sandblasting using our dustless blaster system. Unlike traditional dry blasting we are able to blast a variety of surfaces without warping or damaging the product. Dickey Metal Finishing also offers traditional cleaning for the removal of stamp oils, rust and common corrosion problems.
